Electroporation Systems
Electroporation is a versatile method that is used in genetic engineering, molecular biology, food technology and bioprocess engineering. Among other things, it is used for the targeted introduction of DNA into cells and to kill harmful microorganisms.
How does electroporation work?
A special device, the electroporator, is used to carry out electroporation. This generates an electric field that makes the cell membranes more permeable. In the centre of the device is a cavity with aluminium electrodes in which the cell solution is treated.
