Nucleotides

Nucleotides are the building blocks of RNA and DNA and therefore play a central role in research.

A nucleotide is a molecule and forms the smallest unit of nucleic acids.

It serves as the basic building block of DNA and RNA.

It is made up of three components: a phosphate group, a monosaccharide (a simple sugar, also known as pentose), and one of the five nucleic bases (adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), thymine (T) or uracil (U)).

By studying and modifying nucleotides, researchers can understand basic genetic processes, analyse genetic mutations and perform PCR and DNA sequencing.
